Black and Missing Foundation “Hope Without Boundaries” 5th Annual 5K a Success; $20,000 Raised; 1200 Participated

(Landover Hills, MD) – The Black and Missing Foundation 5th Annual “Hope Without Boundaries” 5K (HWB5K) fundraising campaign, held on June 3, raised $20,000 and attracted more than 1200 participants from around the country. The annual run/walk brings together families and communities to shed light on the issue of missing persons of color throughout the country.

“We are thankful to the participants, special guests, vendors, and volunteers who came together to make this event a success,” said Founders Natalie Wilson and Derrica Wilson. “The ongoing support and generosity of the participants and the community allow us to assist families who desperately need our support and services.”

During the opening ceremonies at the National Harbor in Maryland, families emotionally shared stories of their missing loved one, like Toni Jacobs of Richmond, Virginia whose 22-year-old daughter Keeshae has been missing since Sept. 26, 2016.

Persons of color represent close to 40 percent of all those missing in the United States. Funds raised from the 5K will be used to raise awareness of this often ignored group and provide support to their families.
