Black and Missing Foundation Hosts Walk-Run on June 1 to Highlight Missing People of Color, Supported by Warner Bros.

Landover Hills, MD (May 21, 2024) – The Black and Missing Foundation (BAMFI) will host its 8th “Hope Without Boundaries” 5K Walk-Run event on June 1, 2024, at the National Harbor in Maryland. This year’s event is presented by Warner Bros. TV Group and will feature special guests from the hit TV series ‘Found,’ including the show’s creator Nkechi Okoro Carroll and executive producer and co-showrunner Sonay Hoffman.

The 5K Walk-Run is more than just a race; it is a movement to shed light on the disproportionately high number of missing persons of color, who account for nearly 40% of all missing person cases, and to offer vital support to their families and loved ones.

“We recognized 16 years ago when we founded the organization that there was a national crisis of missing people of color that required a collective effort to make a significant impact, including the media, law enforcement and the community,” said BAMFI Co-Founders Derrica and Natalie Wilson. “Together, we can make a real difference in ensuring that every missing person is given the attention and urgency they deserve.”

Three-time Emmy award winning journalist, Marissa Mitchell of Fox5DC, will host the 5K.

During the event, BAMFI will also honor several key supporters with awards, including:

  • Ambassador of the Year: Lamar and Ronnie Tyler of Traffic Sales and Profit (TSP)
  • Law Enforcement Partner of the Year: Prince William County Police Department
  • Media Partner of the Year: TheGrio
  • Media Impact Award: Gina Hemphill-Strachan

BAMFI expects a significant turnout this year, aiming to spread hope to the missing individuals, victims, and their families. This annual event serves as the primary fundraiser for BAMFI, enabling them to offer continued support to more families.
