Dan O'Toole's Fundraiser

Support the Black and Missing Foundation

This year, my wife Claire and I felt moved to support the incredible work of the Black and Missing Foundation (BAMFI). Claire and Beth, who is actively involved with the organization, have been close friends since their college days. When Beth shared with us the profound impact BAMFI has on missing persons and their families, we knew we wanted to help make a difference.

This is a cause that I have wanted to get involved with for a long time. It has always bothered me that when a white person goes missing there is a huge amount of media attention and when a black person goes missing it doesn’t garner nearly the same attention. The Black and Missing Foundation fights to change that every day.

Our goal is to raise $50,000 (or more!) for BAMFI and my wife and I are prepared to match up to that amount. Thank you in advance for any contribution you can make to this organization.

Statistics: Forty (40) percent of missing persons are persons of color, yet, African-Americans make up only 13 percent of the population. Thousands of people are reported missing every year in the U.S. and while not every case will get widespread media attention, the coverage of white and minority victims is far from proportionate.
